Tarja Rantanen, founder of the Andiata clothing brand, told Koillissanomat how the distinctive nature of Kuusamo has left a lasting impression on her.
Tarja Rantanen has travelled the world and seen many beautiful places, but the tranquility and peace of Kuusamo's nature hold a special place in her heart. Her cabin on the shores of Lake Vuosseli is her favourite retreat, and she especially enjoys spending time in Kuusamo during the summer.

Rantanen confidently describes how the calm waters of Lake Vuosseli, surrounded by green hills and fells, create a postcard-like scene. As she rows across the lake, she is convinced that more people should experience these stunning landscapes. She makes it clear that it is crucial to safeguard the purity and peace of Kuusamo's nature for future generations.

In 1986, at the age of just 25, Rantanen founded Andiata and brought Finnish fashion to the global stage. She told Koillissanomat that Andiata is not just a job for her. It is a significant part of her life that follows her everywhere. With her daughter Matilda now on board, Rantanen is delighted to know that the brand she has built over three decades will continue to thrive.

Tarja Rantanen values the diversity and tranquility of Kuusamo's nature above all else. It was the beauty of this place that convinced her to choose between a cabin in Ruka and Levi. Kuusamo offered everything she was looking for: fells, lakes, forests, and most importantly, clean water, which she states is rare in Finland.
